DCM Lightweight / DCML Series
The DCM Lightweight Series is one of the most significant professional-audio changes in the 2010 catalog. The DCM1000L, DCM2000L, DCM1540L, DCM3000L and DCM3800L deliver between roughly 1000 and 3800 watts of total amplifier capability while weighing only 10–15 pounds. The two smaller models use Class D output stages, while DCM1540L, DCM3000L and DCM3800L use Carvin's linear Class A/B architecture. Carvin emphasizes that the lightweight aluminum chassis and switch-mode supply remove a large amount of rack weight without giving up sustained output capability.
XP Lightweight Powered Mixers
The XP800L and XP1000L replace the older XP mixer philosophy with a much lighter Class D platform. The XP800L provides six microphone channels plus stereo inputs and 500 watts of amplification from a chassis weighing only about 10 pounds. Both models include digital effects, graphic equalization, phantom power, USB power for portable media devices, and mounting provisions for optional Carvin wireless receivers. The systems are sold with LM and LS speakers to create extremely compact portable PA packages.
S16 Studio Powered Mixer
The S16 fills a different role than Carvin's higher-output XP and RX products. It is a compact Studio Powered Mixer intended for recording rooms, rehearsals, keyboard systems, personal monitoring, and smaller sound applications. The console combines eight phantom-powered XLR microphone inputs with four stereo input channels, channel inserts, three-band EQ, dual effects sends, stereo pan controls, tape connections, headphone monitoring, balanced outputs, and an internal stereo power amplifier.
XD88 X-Drive
The XD88 X-Drive marks a move from conventional analog crossover racks toward integrated digital loudspeaker management. It is positioned between the mixer and power amplifiers and combines routing, crossover, equalization, system alignment, and protection functions in one processor. The XD88 features a processing path as using premium 24-bit A/D and D/A converters, with low latency, low noise, and full 20 Hz–20 kHz bandwidth.
TRx Neo Series
The TRx Neo Series is the 2010 evolution of Carvin's higher-output TRx loudspeaker family. The earlier TRx models from 2008 used conventional driver arrangements; the new N models apply neodymium LF and HF technology to reduce system weight while retaining high power handling and touring-oriented construction. The family ranges from compact TRx12N monitors through the dual-15 TRx215N and three-way TRx153N, with TRx118N and TRx218N handling subwoofer duties.
BX500 Bass Amplifier
The BX500 is Carvin’s ultra-lightweight 500-watt bass head built around a Class D power section and switch-mode power supply, combining high output with a chassis that weighs only 5.8 lb. Its preamp uses a 12AX7 tube to add warmth and harmonic character before the Class D output stage, while three separate EQ sections give the player unusually broad tone-shaping control for such a compact amplifier. The BX500 provides bass and treble controls, dual sweepable midrange sections, and a footswitchable 9-band graphic EQ, along with a single-knob compressor, drive control, mute, and master level. Carvin also equips it for professional stage and recording use with a balanced XLR direct output, tuner/headphone output, effects loop, dual Speakon/1/4-inch speaker outputs, and continuous 2-ohm operation.
BX1500 Bass Amplifier
The BX1500 combines very high bass output with a chassis dramatically lighter than Carvin's earlier high-powered heads. It is a 2U, approximately 10-pound, 1500-watt dual-mono block bass amplifier using discrete Class A pre-amplification and a 12AX7 tube stage. Each amplifier channel can independently drive a cabinet or the pair can be bridged for 1500 watts into 4 ohms. The front-panel crossover also makes true bi-amplified bass systems possible without an external crossover.
B2000 Mono Block Bass Amplifier
The B2000 takes Carvin's lightweight high-power bass concept further with a 2U, approximately 13-pound mono head capable of more than 2000 watts into 2 ohms. The preamp combines a discrete Class A front end with a 12AX7 tube stage, while six straightforward EQ bands—Sub Bass, Bass, Low Mid, Mid, High Mid, and Treble—provide broad control without the more elaborate dual-amplifier architecture of the BX1500.
MB Micro Bass Combos
The MB Micro Bass Series is one of the clearest new bass-amplification directions in 2010. Carvin explicitly states that the lightweight BX500 head inspired these 250-watt combos. The family consists of the MB10, MB15 and MB12, each designed to provide professional bass response in a much smaller cabinet than traditional bass combos. MB10 uses a 10-inch woofer and HF driver, MB15 moves to a 15-inch woofer, and MB12 is the most elaborate configuration with a three-way system using a 12-inch woofer, 6-inch midrange driver, and titanium tweeter.
VL2100 Steve Vai Legacy II
The VL2100 Legacy II is a major update to the Steve Vai Legacy platform and is one of the most important amplifier changes from the 2008 catalog. Rather than continuing solely with the earlier two-channel VL100 architecture, the Legacy II is built around a 100-watt, three-channel tube head. The catalog presents separate clean, lead, and master sections, with master volume, boost, and additional control designed around Steve Vai's requirements. It forms the foundation of the VL2412 single-stack and VL2812 double-stack systems, using the C412T and C412B cabinets loaded with Celestion Vintage 30
