The Keyboard Systems introduction is one of the clearest year-to-year developments in the catalog. The series covers small-to-larger channel counts without changing the family identity, making it an anchor line for churches, clubs, bands, and packaged sound systems throughout the catalog. In the context of 1986, MX22 is less about novelty than about breadth and system integration, since it is reused across the keyboard, PA, and complete sound-system sections.
Tri Amp 3000 Sound Systems
The 3000 Tri-Amp material is one of the most technically ambitious parts of the 1986 catalog. Carvin frames tri-amping not as exotic rack-only territory but as an attainable path to cleaner, higher-output reinforcement. The XC1000 crossover sits at the center of the concept, dividing the spectrum for separate low, mid, and high amplification, while the system components combine Renkus-Heinz high-frequency hardware with Electro-Voice mid and low components. This section is one of the clearest points where 1986 differentiates itself from the earlier book: Carvin is selling not just speakers and amps, but a more advanced multi-way system architecture.
