The VT16 micro-head takes the great features and tone of the popular Vintage16 combo, and puts them in a compact head. This is the low-wattage, "boutique" recording tube amp so many players are looking for, and everything about this little amp oozes tone. The SOAK control goes from stout clean tones with rich midrange body to a filling upper-midrange snarl defining its tweed sound. The ALL tube design incorporates V1 12AX7 preamp and two EL84 output tubes. The power amp in its normal "PENTODE" mode puts out a crisp 16 watts. The "TRIODE" mode produces 5 watts of incredibly sweet spongy harmonics, ideal for both mic'd recording and small stage rigs. Wide bass, mid and treble control range, combined with classic long-tail reverb puts an amazing range of sound at your fingertips. Selectable 8 ohm/16 ohm impedance switch, along with silent mode for line-out operation. Made to last, with a quality plywood enclosure covered in vintage tweed.

Carvin offers an assortment of colored coverings for guitar and bass combos, 4 X 12 speaker enclosures, guitar amp heads and bass amps. M. Jaroszewski-

I have been playing guitar for 48 years and am still playing in working bands. My main band is a country rock band and my side band is a mixture of blues, classic rock and jam band. I have a Carvin SX200, a 1985 X100B head, a 2010 Nomad, a 1979 Vibro Champ and a 2004 Marshall DSL combo. As I'm getting up there in age, I was looking for an amp in the 15-20 watt range that would be easy to tote but be loud enough to take to jams or even gig with as my main band remikes everything. I looked at all the other brands but kept coming back to the Vintage 16. I love my Nomad and if the Vintage 16 was basically the same amp , how could I go wrong? When Carvin had a great sale price on the Vintage 16 head, I pulled the trigger. I already have several 1x12 and 2x12 cabinets. I've only had it a week but I can't get over how well this little tiger peforms. I have been using it in the 5 watt triode mode and it is loud. I used it with my side band and with the soak open full and the volume on abou t 6, it was plenty loud. I hooked it up to two 2x12 cabinets and it pushed them easily at half volume. This is not a heavy metal amp. I am a traditional blues, country and classic rock guitar player. If I need a little more gain, I use my overdrive pedal. This amp accepts pedals well. I'm getting David Gilmour type tones using an overdrive, compressor and delay. Guitar and amp alone, I get great blues tones. I think this is a great amp and your amps are vastly underrated. I am looking forward to rehearsing and gigging with this amp with my main band.

"Love this light weight head. Been searching for several years for a tube head or amp that could be operated in a " quiet " mode for playing through our PA without compromising tone quality, all the while loving the tone and responsiveness of my Nomad. This is it. The internal load feature allows me to get that same Nomad tone and responsiveness without having a combo or stack screaming in my ear. My band mates like the fact that my guitar tone now comes from the stage monitors only. Allowing for a much cleaner more balanced stage environment. Carvin service has been exemplary as well. Thanks guys ... y'all ROCK !"
